The exhibition “Lielupe – The Path of Life. Jūrmala Archaeology. Known and Unknown” at the Bulduri Exhibition Hall will feature evidence of the oldest periods of Jūrmala’s history – Neolithic flint tools and flakes, ceramic shards, stone axes from the Priedaine settlement and isolated finds elsewhere in Jūrmala, Iron Age and medieval jewellery and weapons, as well as coin deposits representing even more recent times.
The exhibition features archaeological objects from the Jūrmala Museum collection – evidence obtained during archaeological excavations in Priedaine in 2007–2008, as well as isolated finds and deposits from other areas of Jūrmala.
The prehistoric scene is also enriched by deposits from the Latvian National History Museum, as well as imitations of dishes based on Neolithic comb ceramic samples created by Baiba Dumpe, a ceramic researcher at the Archeology Department of the Latvian National History Museum.
The authors of the exhibition are Līvija Baumane-Andrejevska, the keeper of the Jūrmala Museum collection, and Ernests Sviklis, the director of the Jūrmala Museum, and the artist is Lauris Oga.
