Winter is the time for the cultural season when Jurmala’s cultural spaces transform into a warm refuge – a place to enrich the mind and spirit while everything else seems quiet. The program offers exhibitions showcasing the creativity of local artists and displays featuring works by international creators. The exhibition program encompasses both classical and contemporary art processes, and it also includes special programs dedicated to exploring history. Discover the season's highlights!

Jūrmala Museum (Tirgoņu Street 29, Majori)

• “Prime Mover: Primum Mobile” (10.01.–23.02.) – An exhibition by painter Dags Vidulejs, inspired by Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. The artist depicts the journey from despair to the revelation of truth, based on the experiences of Love, Faith, and Hope.

• “The Hedonists' Duet” (10.01.–23.02.) – An exhibition featuring the works of painter Tatjana Krivenkova and porcelain artist Jekaterina Sazonova. The interplay between painting and porcelain merges color and form in harmony, inviting inner peace and aesthetic lightness. Sazonova’s porcelain forms, crafted with sculptural precision, are complemented by Krivenkova’s delicate painting, creating a polyphonic artistic experience.

• “1 + 1 + 1 = 1” (until 18.05.) – An exhibition on Jurmala’s history and its three former towns – Sloka, Ķemeri, and Rīgas Jūrmala. This display, dedicated to Jurmala's 65th anniversary, combines residents' memories and historical artifacts.

Horn's Garden in Majori

• “Jūrmala – 65” – An open-air exhibition in Horn's Garden, presenting a photographic retrospective of the city's development. This exhibition complements the one at Jūrmala Museum, celebrating Jūrmala's 65th anniversary.

Art Station Dubulti (Z. Meierovica Prospekts 3, Dubulti)

• “The Beautiful in the Ugly and the Ugly in the Seemingly Beautiful” (until 26.01.) – An exhibition by Swedish photographer Lars Tunbjörk, where vivid colors, drastic humor, and everyday depictions border on the bizarre and surreal.

Aspazija’s House (Z. Meierovica Prospekts 18-20, Dubulti)

• “SievietES” (Women) (until 19.01.) – An exhibition dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the first performance of Vaidelote, a play by Latvian poet and playwright Aspazija. It explores women’s roles and experiences in society through various artistic expressions. The exhibition's authors are the artist group ArtPart – sculptor Rita Praņča, graphic artist Evija Freidenfelde, and ceramicist Sanita Čevere.

Bulduri Exhibition Hall (Muižas Street 6, Bulduri)

• “SOS. Life Matters” (07.01.–01.03) – An exhibition where artist Jūlija Eresko’s oil and acrylic paintings interact with Jānis Straume-Broliša’s neon light installations. Glass tubes and light effects create a mysterious space between light and darkness, encouraging reflection on the value of life and the fragility of humanity in today's world.

• A chance to explore the art legend of Jūrmala – the studio and creative world of the outstanding Latvian landscape painter Valdis Bušs (1924–2014).

Vitālijs Jermolajevs’ Painting Theatre “Inner Light” (Omnibusa Street 19, Majori)

Offers a glimpse into the depths of magical painting, creating a unique experience where art interacts with emotional and aesthetic reflection.

New Environmental Object in Kauguri Square

In addition to the diverse exhibitions in the halls, visitors are invited to discover a newly created piece of urban art in Kauguri Square – the environmental object “Mezgls” (Knot) by Uģis Traumanis (realized by SIA MetalProjekts and DJA – Didzis Jaunzems Architecture). The object symbolizes unity and references the history of the Kauguri fishing village, where knot-tying was an essential skill. The mirror-smooth, hand-polished surface reflects the surroundings – apartment blocks, historical buildings, a Catholic church, pine trees, and Jūrmala’s ever-changing skies.
