Spring Bird Days in Jurmala

Spring Bird Days in Jurmala

  • Sunday, 6.April
  • Kemeri National Park
  • Jūrmala

Every year in spring and autumn, Bird Days are held in various locations in Latvia.

This is the time when millions of birds migrate through Latvia twice a year and tend to gather in flocks, making them easy to see.

During Bird Days, everyone is encouraged to observe and enjoy bird migration. You can also learn about bird migration, their excellent navigation skills, and the dangers that await them both during migration and at nesting sites.

During the Spring Bird Days, special attention is paid to bird nesting sites in Latvia - to ensure that they are suitable and safe for birds.

During Bird Days, free bird watching excursions, creative and bird cage workshops, and lectures about birds are held. The excursions are led by experienced ornithologists and nature observers who help to recognize different bird species, talk about the life habits of birds, and answer questions.

Diana Adamaite's exhibition "Frequencies in Space" at the Art Station "Dubulti"

Diana Adamaite's exhibition "Frequencies in Space" at the Art Station "Dubulti"

Diana Adamaite's exhibition "Frequencies in Space" raises the question of the nature of her work. The figures in her paintings are not realistically sensual, but rather elegant and free, resembling mystical expressionism. Her works, made up of colorful fields and figures that move and transform, reflect the living reality of art. The artist uses ignorance to paint – this opens the way to new, mysterious discoveries.

Curated by Inga Šteimane.

The exhibition "1+1+1=1" Sloka + Ķemeri + Riga Jurmala District = Jurmala is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the city of Jurmala.

We consider 11 November 1959 to be the birthday of Jūrmala, when the city of Jūrmala was founded by merging the Jūrmala district of Riga, Slokas and Ķemeri. In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the City of Jurmala, the exhibition focuses on the period after the Second World War and before the founding of Jurmala, from 1944 to the early 1960s. The main idea of the exhibition is to provide an insight into the pre- and post-unification period and to find out how the lives of the inhabitants were affected after the founding of Latvia's largest resort town.
