On November 11 at 3:30 p.m., the Jūrmala Museum (Tirgoņu Street 29, Majori) will open an express exhibition dedicated to the recipient of the Order of Lāčplēsis, Elza Žiglevica — a young woman from Sloka who lost her life in 1919 while supporting Latvian army soldiers during the battles in Riga. For her bravery, she was posthumously awarded the 3rd Class Order of Lāčplēsis No. 2073 on October 25, 1928, the final decoration of this order in history. The exhibition features her medal with its case, memorial booklets, documents, and photographs illustrating her life and service.
The exhibition was created by Jūrmala Museum researcher Līga Strazda, with design by Jana Rāve, in cooperation with the Brothers’ Cemetery Committee, the Latvian War Museum, and the National History Museum of Latvia.
