Media objects “Jūrmalas baltā kaija” (the White Gull of Jūrmala) has been installed in three popular locations in the centre of Jūrmala. These are three benches with 13 bronze gulls and one aluminium gull with one of the benches located in the square opposite railway station Majori, another on Jomas street near Jūrmala Culture Centre and the last one in Dzintari, at the end of Turaidas street – in the passage to the beach. The idea of the media object “Jūrmalas baltā kaija” belongs to the sculptor Kristaps Gulbis. The author was inspired by the coat of arms of the city – a white gull is the symbol of Jūrmala. Anyone can sit on the benches and experience at least for a moment, what it would feel like to be in the middle of a flock of birds.
