For children
Jurmala is the greatest place to spend one's childhood. Here there is no concept of "boredom." The range of children's activities in the city and in the outdoors is so vast that the feeling of boredom simply does not exist here. In the summertime the seaside beach turns into a large 24 kilometre-long sandbox for building sand sculptures, castles or just splashing around in the waves. The gulf's shallow waters will make learning to swim easy for even the smallest beach guests.
Jurmala's city environment also offers a varied array of entertainments and pastimes. All year long the most active lovers of water fun are welcome at "Līvu" aqua-park, with its different pools, slides and attractions, including the whirlwind-like 51.8 meters long Tornado slide - the only slide of this type in Europe and the third largest one in the world. Whereas in the Dzintari Forest Park you can gaze at the sea horizon from the 38-meter high observation tower, over the pine tree tops, and on clear days you can even see Riga's towers in the distance. Meanwhile, the 14-hectare park area itself is a perfect platform for a wide variety of sporting activities. Here you can climb, slide, swing, skateboard, play tag and somersault, not to mention simply running around. For those who desire something more extreme, there is also a ramp for BMX enthusiasts and a rollerblading track.
