During the autumn and winter season, from November 1 to March 31, Jūrmala's beaches are open to our four-legged friends! During this period, it is allowed to be on Jūrmala's beaches with your dog and enjoy beach walks, provided the dog is on a leash.

From April 1 to October 31, staying on the beach, taking walks, or swimming with pets is prohibited. This restriction is in place because many vacationers visit the beach during this time. Maintaining cleanliness, following hygiene standards, preserving the water quality of swimming areas, and ensuring public safety is important. The Jūrmala Municipal Police monitors compliance with these regulations.

The opportunity to visit Jūrmala's beaches with pets in autumn and winter is defined in amendments to the Jūrmala City Council's binding regulations No. 24 "Rules for Keeping Pets in the Administrative Territory of Jūrmala City," adopted on September 28, 2023, and which came into effect on September 24, 2024. The amendments were made following a collective petition from residents titled "On the Possibility of Walking Dogs on Jūrmala's Beaches," which the Jūrmala city administration received on January 30, 2024. The amendments were approved by the Jūrmala City Council in a meeting on August 29, 2024, and came into effect on September 24. Link to the binding regulations.
