The gallery “Art Gallery Jomas 86” presents the photography and painting exhibition “Daugavpils — City of Discoveries: From Citékšņas to Art”.
The aim of the project is to introduce the residents and guests of Jūrmala to the cultural heritage and modern creative potential of Daugavpils, revealing the city as a vibrant center of art, history and inspiration.
The exhibition is a symbolic cultural bridge between two Latvian cities — Daugavpils and Jūrmala. The works of professional artists and photographers allow us to look at Daugavpils from a new perspective, revealing the interconnection of its rich historical heritage and modern art processes.
The exhibition is also available in digital format on the orbitart.net platform.
The project experts and consultants are representatives of the Daugavpils Region Artists Association (DRMA) — artists Romualds Gibovskis and Līga Čible. The visual story about the city is complemented by the works of photographer Natalija Stafecka. A special atmosphere will be created for visitors by musical compositions by the group “Tautumeitas” and dance performances by the collective “Crocus Tribe”.
Free creative master classes with the participation of artists will also be held as part of the project.
The gallery is located on the first floor, so it is accessible to visitors of different ages, including families with strollers and people with special needs.
Visiting the exhibition and participating in the master classes is free of charge.
Exhibition organizer: public organization “Baltic Families Association” in cooperation with the gallery “Jomas 86”.
Project partners: Daugavpils Region Artists Association (DRMA), TC Ditton, Rotary Astor Riga, Talent Together Association, ethnomuseum “Cepures Pasaule” and other organizations.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Daugavpils City Municipality.
