Summer in Jūrmala is more than just a season – it is a collection of sensations, fleeting moments, and lasting memories. A kiss at sunset or an evening with laughing friends, ice cream melting in the sun or an iced coffee at a favourite seaside café, footprints in the white beach sand and a child’s genuine joy over a freshly built sandcastle, pine needles caught in your sandals or a slightly wind-tousled wreath of grasses in sunlit hair. It can also be a moment captured – in a sketchbook or a photograph. Perhaps the horizon is slightly tilted, yet that is where the carefree spirit and quiet magic of summer truly reside.

Become part of the visual story of the Jūrmala Resort Festival – submit your summer photos of Jūrmala and see them featured on 30 May during the Festival.

Submitted images will be used in the communication of the Jūrmala Resort Festival – across digital channels and social media, and showcased on large stage screens at Majori Beach during the event. In some cases, they may also be included in other visual and informational materials related to the Festival.

We welcome a wide variety of summer shots – horizontal or vertical, professionally produced or spontaneously captured. Technical specifications are not decisive – feel free to submit images in various resolutions and formats.

Your photos will also continue their journey on VisitJūrmala social media channels, where they will become part of a special contest. Selected authors will receive a special surprise.

Terms and Consent

By submitting a photo, the participant confirms that they hold the rights to the submitted material and grant the Municipality, free of charge and without any compensation, the right to publish and distribute the material on www.visitjurmala.lv and www.jurmala.lv, as well as on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

The participant also grants the Municipality the right to use the submitted material for promotional purposes in public communications for an unlimited period, without additional notice or consent (including with regard to third parties depicted in the material), and to adapt or otherwise process the material without compensation.

The author agrees that the photo may be used without credit (or with credit only where technically possible or appropriate).

By participating, the individual confirms that they have read and understood these terms and are informed about how their submitted photo and personal data will be used.

Purpose and legal basis:
The Municipality processes your personal data (image, name, surname, e-mail address) to ensure publicity of the Jūrmala Resort Festival and to promote the city’s image.
Legal basis: processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority (Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation), arising from the Law on Local Governments (promotion of culture and tourism).

Data processed:
Name, surname (or social media username), e-mail address or phone number (for communication), image of the person captured in the photo, and other information visible in the image.

Recipients of data:

• Employees of the Municipality’s Marketing and Public Relations departments
• Service providers (e.g. technical event suppliers operating display screens)
• Third parties (unrestricted audience) accessing social media, websites, or attending the Festival where images are displayed

Data retention period:

• Until the purpose is achieved – including the full communication cycle of the Jūrmala Resort Festival and further use in seasonal promotional materials, including long-term outdoor visuals
• In some cases – permanently in the Municipality’s archive as part of the city’s cultural history

Your rights:

• To request access to your personal data
• To request correction of inaccurate data
• To object to processing (the Municipality will assess whether overriding legitimate grounds apply, e.g. if materials are already printed or displayed)
