Love Month in Jūrmala
Romantic walks and the atmosphere of love in Jūrmala
Isn’t a city of sunrises and sunsets the perfect place to spend the most romantic month of the year? Morning and evening by the sea often become moments couples choose to share together — unhurried and fully present. This year, the visual mood of these moments at Dzintari Beach, at the end of Turaidas Street, is enhanced by a graphic symbol of love — a traditional large-format heart that becomes a natural accent for couples’ photographs in the glow of the sunset.
From the beach, the romantic narrative continues in Ķemeri Resort Park — the oldest public park in Latvia outside Riga. Here, architecture and landscape form a balanced environment for leisurely walks. In winter, the park’s spatial clarity becomes especially pronounced: winding paths and small bridges over canal waters create a calm and elegant setting for togetherness. The neoclassical rotunda on Love Island stands out as a quiet stopping point for conversation and unhurried presence.
Shared activities during the Love Month
In winter, Jūrmala offers movement and togetherness in the open air — activities that naturally align with the spirit of the romantic season. Cross-country skiing is available both in forested areas and along the seashore: Dzintari Forest Park features an illuminated classical skiing track. At the same time, the beach hosts a long cross-country skiing route stretching from 36th Line to Jaunķemeri. Winter activities are complemented by the ice rink in Kauguri, which has become a lively meeting place for couples and friends. On 21 February, Ķemeri National Park will host “Winter Bog Tinder” — a sunrise hike where meeting people happens through movement and nature rather than apps, concluding with a breakfast picnic in the bog.

Quiet cultural experiences during the Love Month
In February, Jūrmala offers a concentrated cultural route especially suited to calm togetherness, conversation and inspiration. In the city’s exhibition spaces, art becomes a space for reflection. Jūrmala Museum invites visitors to explore resort history in the exhibition The Doctor at the Resort in the 19th Century and contemporary processes in Shrub Constellation. The Bulduri Exhibition House encourages reflection on identity and relationships in the exhibition “Human Trajectories” by students of the Art Academy of Latvia’s Textile Department, while at the Jūrmala Cultural Space and Environmental Design Centre in Dubulti, Aleksejs Naumovs’ exhibition “My Paris / Mon Paris” reveals Parisian landscapes as a deeply personal field of creative experience. Cultural evenings during the Love Month are naturally complemented by the February programme of Dzintari Concert Hall, creating an elegant, musically layered backdrop for romantic winter days in Jūrmala. On 1 February, audiences are invited to the lecture-concert Ēriks Ešenvalds. Song of the Soul; on 8 February, to the tango concert programme Kaspars Zemītis and Friends. An Argentine in Europe. On 15 February, Weekend Music. Jānis Šipkēvics’ Mini-Opera “Babītes Baobabs” will be performed; on 21 February, Raphael Wressnig & Soul Gift feat. Gisele Jackson takes the stage; and the month concludes on 22 February with pianist Antons Ļahovskis performing Beethoven, Prokofiev and Couperin. The full concert programme is available on the Dzintari Concert Hall website.

Spa as a space for togetherness
During the Love Month, romance in Jūrmala takes on another dimension — expressed through silence, attention and time spent without haste. Spa environments become balanced settings for restorative experiences, where physical wellbeing and a calm rhythm allow couples to focus on presence and togetherness.
Baltic Beach Hotel & SPA – one of the most comprehensive spa destinations on the Baltic Sea coast, where wellness is the core of the experience, offering over 300 treatments, the Sea Wellness seawater relaxation centre and the extensive sauna complex The Garden. The ritual menu combines locally inspired treatments from the “Latvian Rituals Collection” with exotic body-reboot experiences, including pindas massage and hot basalt stone therapy.
