Summer Solstice in Jūrmala
Celebrate the brightest time of the year by the sea. In Jūrmala, the Summer Solstice arrives with songs, the scent of wildflowers, fire rituals and the joy of gathering together.
A special highlight will take place on 21 June at 22.00 on Dzintari Beach, where the sea, sunset and fire will meet in a solstice ritual performance accompanied by the ethno group “Ogas”. Earlier in the evening, the area around Dzintari Concert Hall will come alive with a wreath-making workshop, a small solstice market and a festive sing-along concert featuring soloists, choirs, folk dance groups and kokle music.
On 23 June, Līgo evening will be celebrated on Kauguri Beach, at the end of Kapteiņa Zolta Street, with a bonfire, live music by the band “Labvēlīgais tips”, a beach party with DJ Grauzdiņš and seaside cafés creating a true midsummer atmosphere by the sea.
The solstice mood in Jūrmala will begin even earlier, with pre-solstice events at the Jūrmala Open-Air Museum and in the garden of Rainis and Aspazija’s Summer House, inviting visitors to discover midsummer traditions, songs, wildflowers and the making of oak-leaf wreaths.
